Arella’s Bio
Arella teaches an inspiring Vinyasa flow that includes well-choreographed sequences, a focus on the breath, and hands-on assists. During the class, she encourages students to reach their edges while moving their bodies with grace to an eclectic mix of rhythmic world music.
Arella’s intention through teaching yoga is to create a challenging and sacred space where students will illuminate from within and radiate vibrant health. She believes that the energy and focus that are created while practicing yoga enable people to become clearer about their passions and purpose in life so that they can actively pursue them.
Arella was inspired to check out her first yoga class over 15 years ago by a co-worker who always came into the office after practicing yoga with an aura of serenity and bliss. Her face was glowing, and Arella thought, “I want to feel like that”, so off to her first yoga class she went! She fell in love with the practice after her first class and has been practicing ever since. After playing competitive sports since childhood and playing college basketball, yoga was a breath of fresh air, bringing the spiritual realm into the movement.
In addition to being a yogini, Arella has been a participant in the free flow dance community for many years. She lets her spirit soar through movement at sacred places that provide her a space to dance freely, be playful and spontaneous, and have fun with other people who love to move.
Arella has been teaching yoga in San Francisco and Manhattan since 2000. She is a certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher having completed the 300-hour yoga teacher training with Sharon Gannon and David Life, and a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher having completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. Her classes are also strongly influenced by the Sivananda style of yoga which she has studied for over 10 years. She continues to study with and be inspired by Dharma Mittra. Arella is also inspired by her husband Jeffrey, her yogi partner and soul mate.
